Q: What's the benefit of DeployR over a more modern, provisioning methodology via autopilot?
A: Autopilot is for device configuration, not OS deployment. Autopilot requires a working OS already on the device, so DeployR can put it there.

Q: Does DeployR support macOS?
A: DeployR can technically run on MacOS, but Apple doesn't support imaging MacOS (on ARM64 at least) so we don't plan to do that.
Q: How would you compare DeployR to OSDCloud?
A: DeployR is a whole ecosystem of tools, a lot of UI pieces.
Q: Is integration with Git planned for code/version control and CI/CD integrations?
A: Yes, the plan is to allow "simple" changes, i.e. like Git, find and replace, etc.
Q: Will the task sequence engine integrate a debugger?
A: Wait... :-) it will also be a remote debugger.
Q: Is the disk getting formatted with suitably sized Recovery and EFI partitions?
A: The "Format Disk"-step is running a Powershell script with default values for these partitions. Easy for you to customize if needed.
Q: Does the drive pack support WIM files, or will it compress the folder to a WIM?
A: It will .wim by default, but can support .zip and others like .vhd etc. Basically all content uploaded to the DeployR server will be compressed into a WIM file automatically.
Q: Any chances of detecting the model of device and auto ingesting driver pack from OEM source and then storing for future use?
A: Yes. We can even peer it.
Q: If/When the OEM changes their URLs for driver packs, how is that change managed within the DeployR space?
A: Currently for the phase when we get from OEM we assign/DL dynamically, but there are "issues" using the OEMs latest as well possibly. So might be a case where we have some logic for semi-automatic.
Q: Anything like DaRT or VNC remote viewer?
A: Yes, VNC and Intel AMT/AMD dash support is coming. Today you can get a PS prompt.
Q: Is OS deployment done under System or Admin account ?
A: We aim to support both.
Q: Can DeployR do the Autopilot registration for a device?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you support conditions/variables for steps/groups?
A: Yes.
Q: Can you import task sequences from MDT?
A: We aim to "script" over MDT customers, same as MEMCM customers.
Q: For Autopilot task sequence, can you install OS, Office and apps, and then finish with OOBE?
A: Yes.
Q: Would we be able to integrate machine builds with DeployR into other tools (e.g. via an API)?
A: Yes.
Q: When will DeployR be available for us to try?
A: We aim for Q2.
Q: I need to do OSD for Windows Server Remote Desktop Hosts in datacenter, will this product perform MDT's current role for that?
A: We should support Windows Server just fine.
Q: I need to do OSD for Azure Virtual Desktop Win 11 Multi-User Enterprise virtual machines, currently using custom task sequence engine. Will this product support that scenario?
A: Can't see any reason why it shouldn't.
Q: How resilient is DeployR for temporary network drops between the client and the DeployR server, will the installation resume if the client lose the connection to the server for 5-10 seconds?
A: As we are used to BITS, we know a lot about having a reliable download engine. So that should be fine.
Q: Do you have a built-in support for different language related settings?
A: As in regional stuff? No US only! ;-) Just kidding, yes we are a Swedish company. :)
Q: Is scheduling of machine builds an option (possibly via the push piece)? i.e. we'd want to be able to schedule lab builds overnight.
A: Yes, that should be doable.
Q: Can the format step handle multiple disks and select correct disk to install the OS on?
A: It should. If not, you can build your own step and then publish it. We already support specifying the disk index. We default to disk 0.
Q: Will webinar presentations be posted on YouTube?
A: The recordings are posted to the DeployR product page on our website.
Q: Will we be able to customize the WinPE media to account for 802.1x secured networks (a ethernet profile with built in Cert or user creds)?
A: We presently have a scripted mechanism for generating the boot image, so this could be customized. We can already inject root certs, would need to add a little more for machine certs and 802.1x config profiles.
Q: Can you deploy Windows Server OS as well?
A: It will be also possible to deploy Windows Server OS with DeployR as well as Windows OS.
Q: Will it allow for joining a computer to a domain (on-prem AD)?
A: With the enterprise version of DeployR, it will allow to join a computer to a domain (on-prem AD).
Q: If using iPXE, then I would assume WDS would not be needed?
A: If you are using iPXE Anywhere 2PXE Server with DeployR (which is included with the the OS Deployment Suite), then WDS would not be required as iPXE Anywhere 2PXE Server will be used as the PXE responder in this case.
Q: Might be too early to answer but will DeployR be included in a bundle with other 2Pint Software products at some point?
A: DeployR will include other products from the 2Pint Software suite and will be sold as the OS Deployment Suite including:
Q: Will it be possible to upgrade from community to enterprise version? Or would it involve a separate installation/migration?
A: To upgrade from DeployR community to enterprise version you will simply require an enterprise license key.
Q: What if I only want to use DeployR to rebuild devices when SSD is replaced or Windows Reset is unavailable, do I have to pay a license for my whole fleet?
A: If you only want to use DeployR to rebuild devices when the SSD is replaced or Windows Reset is unavailable and do not want to license for the entire estate then it is recommended to use the community version.
Q: Will there be a minimum amount of licences you need to take for enterprise? Some SMB's would like support but only have a small amount of devices.
A: Currently the minimum DeployR license quantity for enterprise is 1000 licences.
Q: Any plans to leverage the Intel EMA Server vPro APIs for out-of-band (hardware level) management with RecoveR?
A: 2Pint Software plans to leverage Intel EMA server vPro APIs and DASH for out-of-band (hardware level) management with RecoveR which also can leverage DeployR.
Q: Can DeployR push OS and create / join into Domains unrelated to the Domain containing SCCM / DeployR?
A: Yes, DeployR can push OS and create/join Domains unrelated to the Domain containing SCCM/DeployR.
Q: Is there/will there be a home lab license for a small number of clients? Love these kinds of options for home lab and dev environments.
A: Once we have finalized the Go-to-market for DeployR there will be the availability of home labs free of charge as part of our contribution to the community. This is in the roadmap for DeployR after release.
Q: Any plans for a SaaS version or 1 click deployment into Azure from the Marketplace to make deployment life easier?
A: We do not plan from 2Pint Software to offer any managed service or SaaS directly for DeployR but will have a partner model for this and it is planned in our go to market. It will be possible to host DeployR in Azure (IaaS).
Q: How are you handling drivers?
A: DeployR is managing drivers either via manual-strict mode or automatic.
Q: Any limits for number of packages? (possibly a restriction for you on community too).. as from memory the last time I counted my lab had like 60-80 apps.
A: For the Enterprise version of DeployR we do not see any limit for the number of packages, as today customers for large enterprise require support for 3K+ apps.
Q: Is there ARM Windows 11 deployment support?
A: Yes, we have support for ARM Windows 11 deployment in DeployR and StifleR and iPXE Anywhere will be available Q3 2025.
Q: Could it maybe use a pre-pushed LAPS account? In the context of using AutoAdminLogon, instead of specifying a password that gets injected, use a LAPS account?
A: Right now, this wouldn't work because we would typically do an Offline Domain Join (ODJ) once in the new OS, so we need the Administrator account/password in order to logon to run the step to join the domain.
Q: Do you have a way to prompt the installing person for information to prompt the build, like we had in MDT's customizable Deploy Wizard screens?
A: This is something we are planning, but it is not yet in the product, beyond prompting for the task sequence to run.
Q: Or working together with cfr TSGui? (which allows us to provide extra info prior before deployment)
A: We will have an ability to insert custom UI's if needed, but in many cases we don't think this will be necessary.
Q: Will there be any automation built in to customize Windows such as removing apps or customizing the desktop for the first login experience or will this be left to other community provided solutions?
A: We will likely have a community step in DeployR to provide solutions for certain customizations or automation built in to customize Windows such as removing apps or customizing the desktop for the first login experience.
Q: Where are the images stored or pulled from? Is it like a centralized Azure StifleR VM with all components, then a separate machine on a remote site connecting via an agent so the transfer is local rather than over the internet?
A: The intention in DeployR is to have a single source storage, then multi proxy support for caching out in the enterprise. Then peer-to-peer on top of that.
Q: Is there the capability to remotely build a device or batch of devices? We'd like to rebuild an entire lab with this task sequence. Further is there the capability to schedule that remote rebuild? We'd like to rebuild an entire lab overnight.
A: In the Enterprise version of DeployR, there will be the capability to remotely build a device or batch of devices e.g. to rebuild an entire lab with a task sequence. There will also be the capability to schedule a remote rebuild. This will not be available in the community version.
Q: Is there/will there be an option to install apps using dynamic variables (like in Configmgr TS)?
A: Yes, there will be an option to install apps using dynamic variables (like in Configmgr TS) in DeployR.
Q: Can the process using audit mode also handle the upload of hardware hashes? Scenario being an urgent need for hardware purchased outside of normal vendors.
A: The DeployR process can use audit mode and also handle the upload of hardware hashes e.g. for a scenario requiring an urgent need for hardware purchased outside of normal vendors.
Q: What are the requirements for the assisted Beta?
A: Although we would like to try and get input from around the community to our Beta release, we also have to consider capacity and time to respond to all the great feedback we would receive. Currently we are looking for existing 2Pint Software customers that we can work with directly for the first phase.
Q: Can you password a TS? Or hide some TS from different users? (I used to do it on MDT via selections and IP).. but this may be that scope creep again haha.
A: This is an aspect in DeployR we are actively working on and determining the best solution as part of RBAC support. We can also add password or PIN prompt during the iPXE process, i.e. you can't network boot and reimage unless you know the secret. So there is already an aspect of this with 2Pint Software's iPXE Anywhere.
Q: Can you briefly say something about Autopilot tracking and monitoring, will this also work with Autopilot V1?
A: Yes, this will be visualized in the dashboard where you will also get analytics. You will be able to track Autopilot and the app install in real time and see the duration of installations across your environment. This is also if you deploy the entire OS via the USB element.
Q: Do the task sequences support if/then run steps? i.e. inject driver pack abc for model abc, driver pack xyz for model xyz as reported via WMI or the like?
A: One use case we have tested under DeployR Private preview is placing this as an immutable copy in cloud and use this in the event there is a complete loss of SCCM/OSD, build from home, on public wifi.
Q: Will there be support for UDI-style wizard-driven app installs selectable by the tech performing the OSD on the device?
A: Yes there will be support for UDI-style wizard-driven app installs selectable by the tech performing the OSD on the device.
Q: Is there any intention to offer DeployR support for managing and configuring via code as an option to the graphical interface?
A: Yes, This will be offered via REST & WMI.
Q: Will there be any Autopilot integration? Many have been hoping to see a UI++ for Autopilot for years and are looking to 2Pint Software for e.g. cloud OS deployment with selectable TS options.
A: DeployR will be able to offer this with 2Pint Software visualization also and integrate with Autopilot.
Q: Will deployR offline Media?
A: Yes DeployR will 100% support for offline media.
Q: Is there any generic 'run powershell script' task sequence step in DeployR in order to integrate out to third party tools for things like inventory or alternative package install tools via Webhooks or REST calls?
